Each week, Principal Rocha will share key questions and responses from these sessions, in moderation of course, through weekly communication with the entire community. Sign up here for future sessions. Below is the fourth series of FAQs.

Community Follow Up FAQs
I’m not sure how to access the Canvas App?
Please see directions on how to access the parent Canvas app here.
You may also find the DUSD Parent Help Portal useful.
What’s the fastest way to communicate with staff?
Email is the preferred method, please email the teacher directly. Note that if you leave a voice message for a staff member through their specific inbox, your message will be emailed to the staff member.
What if the teacher is experiencing tech difficulties? What are the parent’s responsibilities?
We understand that life happens and we all may experience a challenge (ie: power outages, wifi network failures, etc). Patience, grace and understanding is appreciated if this occurs.
Know that our staff is prepared to assist your child. First, our teachers have reviewed the ”what if” protocols with your children directly. Second, our teachers will school administrators when they face a connectivity challenge, so our staff can immediately email students with an update.
On your end, please report this challenge to school via voicemail or email. Have your child check their email for an update as well.
Why are we not using google classroom? Is the district wasting money having google, canvas, and zoom?
Google Suite integrates with Canvas. Canvas provides a more robust experience for all users.
Canvas serves as a learning management software with the intention that the end user (students/families) have a consistent experience, Dublin is a google district and we utilize G Suite, and Zoom allows us to telepresence with users in a way that other video conferences doesn’t allow at this current time.
Why isn’t every class meeting each day? Wednesdays nothing is happening.
We appreciate your feedback, and will continue refining our practices. As a team, we strive to improve our daily service. As shared during a community session with Mr. Rocha, we take the approach quoted by Steve Young, “The principle is competing against yourself. It's about self-improvement, about being better than you were the day before.” We are in this together.
Additionally, our Board of Trustees approved a bell schedule that was negotiation between management and the teacher's union.
Online learning is not the same as in person instruction. While we are still providing high-quality instruction, it’s important to understand that the Board of Trustees approved a schedule that is similar to a modified block. This means that class period time has increased and there is specific time for small group intervention, flex time and asynchronous instruction.
